Broken Barrel x Los Angeles Distillery Collaboration 130.2 Proof

Broken Barrel is excited to present its first Collaboration Collection to close out 2022, featuring two of the West Coast’s best talent all rolled into one amazing limited-edition release. While Broken Barrel’s core whiskey lineup comes from Owensboro, Kentucky, some confuse the source when seeing the company headquarters remain nestled in Downtown Los Angeles where the brand was founded. Broken Barrel hides no love from its home state and launched the award-winning Central Coast Cabernet-finished bourbon titled ‘California Oak’ to highlight their dual citizenship between the two states.

This bottling marks a new journey for Broken Barrel. Our first collaboration features one of California’s most impressive distilleries – a true state-of-the-art facility led by one of the industry’s most undiscovered champions – Dr. Lewis Harsanyi. From a very early age, Dr. Harsanyi has been building, importing and selling brewing and distilling systems for over 35 years. His engineering, brewing and distilling equipment have established some of the industry’s most acclaimed manufacturers. In 2014 Lewis began his very own distillery, utilizing his lifetime of experience and expertise in the distilling space. Today, Los Angeles Distillery houses one of the most breathtaking and sophisticated distilling operations in the craft spirits industry.

Dr. Harsanyi has mastered the art of whiskey using his Hungarian heritage to his advantage at every step of the process. He uses only the densest, top quality new Hungarian white oak for his custom elongated barrels – with grooves carved into each stave, adding 60% additional surface area contact to impart more flavor. He also imports and uses the famous Hungarian dessert wine “Tokaji Aszú” barrels, which Broken Barrel and LA Distillery have aptly chosen for this Collaboration Oak Bill™. The connection between these two whiskey makers and the combination at every step of the process is something every Californian will appreciate, enjoy and share. This collaboration will only be made available to California.
